Composition Contest
SIPG announces its first annual Composition Contest for composers of any age and nationality.  SIPG is a multi-media collaborative ensemble focusing in live music, dance and electronic media.  Seeking original work to be premiered by SIPG, that expands the contemporary chamber music repertoire and highlights the work of an emerging composer.
Instrumentation: 3-6 players, one of which must be percussion, choices for others can be drawn from the following instruments.
piccolo/flute/alto flute, 1 player
Bb or A clarinet, 1 player
percussion can be chosen from (up to 2 players total); 5-octave marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel, selection of glass (email for more info), diatonic or chromatic tubaphone (C1-C3), cymbals, small auxiliary, and 4 tom-toms (other percussion may be available, please contact us, unusual instruments may need to be provided by composer)
chromatic hammer dulcimer, 1 player (dulcimer may be included in part of above percussionist)
piano, 1 player
harp, 1 player
cello, 1 player
Live electronics and/or prerecorded electronic sounds welcome,  but not required.  Composer must provide necessary equipment for live electronics, beyond CD playback.
Duration: 12 minutes or under
Deadline: March 1, 2008, postmark, may include SASE for return of materials, one score per applicant
Prize:  Performance on concert in June, 2008 in Chicago and possible future performances and collaboration with the winning composer.  Composer encouraged to attend dress rehearsal and concert(s).  Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse associated travel expenses.  SIPG reserves the right to choreograph movement to the winning composition and to not declare a winner.
